PANGKOR ISLAND
Pangkor Island is the third largest island located in the state of Perak , Malaysia in the waters of the Malacca Strait . The area is only 2,200 hectares and the population is about 25,000 people. Pangkor Island is one of the main tourist destinations in Malaysia . Pangkor Island can be explored on foot, or using a land vehicle such as a Pangkor taxi , car or motorcycle. The surroundings are suitable for sea activities such as swimming, snorkeling , kayaking, and fishing.
On January 1, 2020, Pangkor Island was declared a Tax Free Island by order of His Majesty the Sultan of Perak Darul Ridzuan. [1]
Pangkor Island is one of the areas under the administration of the Manjung Municipal Council . After it was declared as a duty-free island, a special unit called the Duty-Free Island Management Unit (UPPBC) was established on July 1, 2022 which is responsible for managing all matters on Pangkor Island including development, planning, promotion and tourism.
